Family Road Trip 2013

Family Road Trip 2013, a set on Flickr.
We took our 1st family road trip up north to the Sequoias, Old Sacramento, Paradise, San Francisco, and Monterrey, and in amazing company with Grammy. Tyler had many adventures!!! Grammy and him enjoyed their very own movie theater in the back seat. Tyler got portable DVD players which made driving much easier. Tyler thought it was so cool to watch a movie in the car. Before our main first stop we stop by Hume Lake. Which is a Christian camp for junior high and high school students. It's one of Mommy's favorite memories camping when growing up. Tyler enjoyed look at the lake, and he would of gone right in if we didn't stop him. On our first stop we saw lots of big trees. We also stayed in a cute little cabin where Tyler’s favorite thing was playing with the empty trash and recycle cans. It's also where we believe Tyler got poison oak. Third day into our vacation we notice a little rash on Tyler’s leg which continually spread all over his leg. So two days later we found ourselves in an urgent care, and learning that poison oak doesn't just come from touches a plant. We believe Tyler got it from playing in dirt which had poison oak sap from maybe someone that had walked in the plant, and then carried the oak sap to the dirt. But who really knows. All I know that a prescription and cream later, and we were back on the road. Tyler did great! He never stitched it or anything. Before going to visit Robbie's Grandma in Paradise we stop in Old Town Sacramento. Got to walk around all the little shops, enjoyed some delicious Mexican food for lunch, and saw the Sacramento River. It was so wonderful to finally have Tyler meet his Great Grandma! Spent a couple days hanging with Grammy's mom and brothers. We all had a great time by the hotel pool sharing lots of memories. From Paradise we drove to Muir Woods, saw more gorgeous trees, and then to San Francisco. In San Francisco we stayed with Grammy's neighbors son, Matt. He was about an hour from San Francisco, so we took a ferry into San Fran. Fun experience and beat driving our car in the crazy San Fran traffic. In San Francisco we saw the Golden Gate Bridge, Baker Beach, Golden Gate Park, drove down Lombard Street, San Francisco Giants stadium AT&T park, rode a cable car, chased birds in Union Square, dinner in Little Italy, Fishermans Wharf, Pier 39, Angel Island, and Alcatraz. We took a tour of Alcatraz. Tyler slept through the first half of the tour, but woke up in time to play in the jail cells. We spent our last couple days of our vacation near Monterrey visiting Aunt Jan, Daddy's Aunt. She took us to a fun children's park called Dennis the Menace Playground. Very fun playground and lots to explore, but Tyler favorite part was the lion water fountain. We walked around Fishermans Wharf in Monterrey Bay. At night Aunt Jan took us to a fun concert on the beach. Tyler had a blast dancing, hitting the beach ball, and devouring a banana. So our road trip was a huge success. We had a amazing vacation!!!
